Conservation efforts commenced for post war Intramuros, rebuilding and restoring this historical landmark. The ruins also brought along informal settlers as new residents of the walled city, co-existing with remnants of its religious, educational, and government landmarks.

The newly reconstructed Manila Cathedral was reverently consecrated on the eve of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Renowned Filipino architect Pablo Ocampo meticulously restored the church, faithfully preserving the original cathedral's architectural essence.
